Who's Banai?
My name is Banai (rhymes with Renee) Lynn Feldstein. I was born in 1972 in North Miami, Florida. I earned my BS in Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University in December 1996. Currently, I reside in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I first became interested in computers in the sixth grade when I learned to program in Basic on an Atari 800. I soon learned to use an IBM PC at home. In high school, I took the computer course and fell in love with computers again, using a Macintosh. In college, I focused on programming and Natural Language Processing. Since the end of college, I have been running a web development business, Great Bird Enterprises.
I've been singing since third grade, when I joined the choir at my synagogue. Beginning in sixth grade until I graduated high school (except seventh), I attended special magnet schools for music. I have an extensive music collection including LPs, 45s, cassettes, and CDs. My favorite music genre is country. I love singing, writing, playing piano, and trying to play guitar.
Although I remember watching the original Star Trek series with my Dad when I was younger, I have only been a Trekkie since the seventh season of Next Generation when I was flipping channels and became enthralled with the show. I prefer 24th Century Trek to 23rd Century, and I have finally seen a couple episodes of TAS but I like to watch them all. My favorite Trek characters are Data and The Doctor.
I became interested in genealogy at age 12, or sooner, probably when we met some relatives "on Dad's side" -- and that's all my parents could tell me. In 1998, I began my genealogical quest again. And those relatives... they're actually on the "Feldstein" side of the family tree.
My newest business venture is Feldstein Genealogy Services. I have access to the records at the Family History Library and can read languages in the Latin, Cyrillic, and Hebrew alphabets.
In the rest of my spare time, I love reading, bicycling, collecting stamps, playing tennis and racquetball, staring at microfilm searching for clues about my ancestors, updating my web sites, and getting in my car and driving away from anywhere I've been for too long. But usually, I spend my spare time working on my house and my yard.
